Wild Medicine Work Trade Application

We are looking for a few amazing folks who want to earn their full or part tuition to the Wild Medicine Program through 25 or 50 hours of work exchange. This work will be related to sustainable living on our permaculture homestead, foraging and/or helping with making products for our growing wild foods business. These will be amazing learning opportunities in themselves.

We are looking for candidates who have a strong work ethic and have the ability to perform outside labour. Duties may include foraging, garden labor, stacking firewood, trail clearing, etc. You must be comfortable and capable of working outdoors in all weather. Our busy times ideal for work are at the end of April/beginning of May, June & September. We are somewhat flexible to have people here to complete their work trade hours outside of these periods, but all days will be discussed and scheduled prior to start or program. Hours must be completed by the end of the Wild Medicine program in September. There is the option to rustic camp onsite at our homestead during these work periods and the lake nearby is perfect for after work swims!

Depending on weather and what the business needs are at the time of your work hours we may also be working in the Wild Muskoka Production Kitchen. Kitchen work may involved processing wild harvested plants for infused vinegar or spices, making milkweed pod pickles, or other various tasks. This is a great hands-on way to see how a real wild foods business operates. These days to be coordinated with Laura directly after beginning of the program.

I will be accepting applications until February 1, 2024. All applicants will be contacted by February 15th to let them know if they have been selected for phone interview. After phone interviews the successful candidates will be contacted by email and will be required to submit a $200 deposit as a good faith measure to show commitment to the program. Upon completion of work trade hours before September 30, 2024 the $200 deposit will be returned.

If you have any further questions please feel free to email me. Looking forward to sharing some Wild Medicine with you this summer.
