Sumac Infused Vinegar

This Infused Vinegar makes it easy to incorporate the delicious wild foraged taste of edible Sumac into your home cooking. It also makes for a fun conversation piece when entertaining guests.

Edible Sumac has a tart & lemony flavour. Did you know it is also high in Vitamin C? 

If you're wondering how to use it, we have several recipes that use sumac listed below this description.

An especially wonderful way of using Sumac herbal vinegar is in salad dressing. We often pair it with olive oil and a touch of either maple syrup or honey. It can also be used in place of a lemon in a stir-fry

All of our infused vinegar's start with the best apple cider vinegar we can find. It is locally made in Ontario with organic apples and is raw and unpasteurized.  We then sustainably wild forage the Sumac to turn it into an infused herbal vinegar.

Ingredients: Organic apple cider vinegar, natural Staghorn Sumac extract.

Shake before use, sedimentation is natural. Once opened this herbal vinegar will last for one year in your pantry. For fresher flavour, keep the infused vinegar in your fridge.

There are so many things you can make with edible Sumac and Sumac infused vinegar. salad dressings and stir fry's are the two most common ways we use this artisan vinegar.

Today's Featured Recipe: Sumac & Berry Vinaigrette

  • 2 tbsp - Wild Muskoka Botanicals Sumac Vinegar
  • 2 tbsp - blueberry syrup or jelly
  • 1 tbsp - canola or sunflower oil
  1. Shake all ingredients together in a tightly-lidded container OR whisk together in a small bowl.
  2. Let stand 10 minutes to blend flavours.
  3. Shake again then dress salad as desired.

    Staghorn Sumac (Rhus typhina) is a native shrub. We wild forage the red berries (which are not related to poison sumac) in late summer. Sumac berries are rich in Vitamin C and have a slightly tart and sour flavor.

    We are a small rural business. We do everything by hand from foraging wild plants to shipping orders from a small village. Please note that it may take up to a week to ship out your order.     Standard shipping is via Canada Post Regular Parcel. You will be provided with a Tracking Number when the item is shipped. If you would rather me ship your item with through an alternate service contact me and I will try and accommodate your needs. Customers in the Muskoka area are welcome to arrange pick-up of their parcels and save on shipping. You MUST contact me at least 24 hours in advance to arrange pick up.
